Walking along the edge of the Tidal Basin next to the Potomac River is the Jefferson Memorial. This memorial is dedicated to Thomas Jefferson, our third President and author of the Declaration of Independence.

After walking up the steps and through the white marble columns, you will see a bronze statue of Jefferson addressing the Continental Congress.

Inscribed on the walls are a variety of Jefferson quotations, including the words he wrote in the Declaration of Independence, “We hold these truths that all men are created equal..."
