Welcome to the second semester of US History. We begin the semester studying the Home Front in WW II. Our second unit focuses on the Cold War tensions between the US and the Soviet Union after the war. During the turbulent decades of the 50's, 60's, and 70's our class will focus on the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War. Finally, we will study the century's end, including the rise of conservatism with the election of Ronald Reagan, the booming economy of the Clinton years, and the new US struggle against international terrorism after September 11th, 2001.
As in first semester, our class we will use primary sources, lectures, discussions, projects, simulations, video, computers, and our history text to learn about our nation’s history. Each historical unit will last approximately four weeks. At the end of each unit students will receive a unit test. In addition, we will complete two research papers the second half of the year.
