On a midday stroll at Lake Chabot you will see lots of boaters, picnickers, and fishermen. Along with the hundreds of East Bay residents taking their daily walk, you’ll also see flocks of Canada geese, finding bugs on the lawns and sunning themselves on the boat docks. It’s worth the effort to walk a mile or two from the Boat House down the East Shore Trail to Honker Bay. Here there are more birds than people, swimming among the reeds and preening themselves along the shoreline. And those Canada geese, that create quite a mess where people congregate, are really stunning in their more natural setting. Here are a few photos to prove my point.
