We spent three days on Oceanside Beach at Camp Pendleton. I took daily walks with my camera.
Thousands of small, blue creatures had washed up on shore. The Velella velella are commonly known as “by the wind sailors” for their transparent sail.
Pelicans patrolled the skies. Sandpipers, sea gulls, and royal terns gathered on the beach. And seaweeds created delicate designs on the sand.
As I took photos, I was reminded of Nate’s insight while walking on another southern California beach, “Nature makes beautiful art every day.”
