The Truckee River Recreation Trail begins at the edge of Lake Tahoe in Tahoe City. The trail winds along the beautiful Truckee River to the half way point near the Palisades ski area. Bikers share the two lane trail with hikers for an eleven mile round trip route.
I rode the trail in late September when there were still wonderful wildflowers and cattails along the river bank. Swimming nearby were cinnamon crested ducks, a pair of female common mergansers.
The safe, relatively flat trail, is a great choice for riders young and old.
