Landing Craft Launch
The Well Deck of the USS Makin Island has hovercrafts known as LCACs, or Landing Craft Air Cushion. These assault crafts are used to transport weapons, equipment, cargo, and personnel. Their powerful engine fans allow Marine assault units to be taken from ship to shore, and across the beach.
