This was our family’s first trip to Point Reyes with three generations of backpackers: Grandad, Auntie Jamie, and Nate. The first day we hiked the Bear Valley Trail to Glen Camp, which was lush and green from the winter rains. The second day we headed for Wildcat Beach. Jamie and Nate took off boots and strolled barefoot along the beach to beautiful Alamere Falls. We hiked a total of 8 and 1/2 miles that afternoon. The third day we rested at Glen reading books, playing games, and planning for next year’s backpacking trip. Nate made an itinerary to hike to all four Pt. Reyes campsites. And who knows, if his stride keeps getting longer and stronger, we could do it. The final morning, we packed up our gear and hiked back to the Bear Valley trailhead. And as it now tradition, we dined for lunch at M and G Burgers in Fairfax, the end of a great backpacking trip for all three generations!
