11. The US Supreme Court

Behind the US Capitol lies the United States Supreme Court. The building has classic Roman columns and a tall carved door painted gold. The highest court in the land is responsible for interpreting the nation's laws. The nine Supreme Court justices meet to hear the most important court cases from the lower courts.

The court is open to the public during the week. When the court is not in session you can go in and hear a lecture about the history of the building and the traditions of the Supreme Court.
