Innocent Boy

Innocent boy

We walked around the block

You wrote your name in chalk

You’d stop to count the rocks at the corner house

Innocent boy

I taught you to ride a bike

We looked for bugs on hikes

Played “Going on a bear hunt” at the park

Innocent boy

I helped you climb the rock wall

So afraid that you would fall

But, I stood aside and let you go

To let you grow oh, oh, oh, innocent boy

Innocent boy

You’ve grown faster than the sun sets

And I have no regrets

Except  I can’t make time stand still

Innocent boy

I know love means letting go

I know I have to let you grow, oh, oh, oh, innocent boy

Oh, oh, oh, innocent boy.
